As a part of our mission, we are committed to educating the eye banking community about our medical innovations. OSI delivers the following services related to endothelial keratoplasty (EK):

  • Prepare tissue for EK
  • Determine graft thickness and diameter, provide measurements and markings
  • Deliver tissue with a unique “stroma-up” marking system
  • Surgical technique consultation

The OSI Process
Here is a snapshot of how OSI typically works with eye banks:

  • OSI will acquire tissue from an eye bank, prepare it and return it for distribution
  • Whenever OSI receives an order from a surgeon, we will contact the local eye bank or the surgeon’s preferred eye bank. If tissue is available, OSI will prepare tissue from the local eye bank. If tissue is not available, then OSI will collaborate with the eye bank to meet the surgeon’s request.
  • After a review of the donor record and tissue examination, OSI prepares the tissue.
  • If OSI prepares tissue and returns it to the eye bank for distribution, the eye bank is invoiced for the EK preparation fee.
  • If OSI prepares tissue and distributes it, then OSI pays the eye bank its tissue fee and will invoice the end-user surgeon.
