Jamie Swaim Receives CEBT Certification

Ocular Systems Inc is pleased to announce that Jamie Swaim has passed the Eye Bank Association of America Certified Eye Bank Technician examination (CEBT).

Mr. Swaim becomes the sixth member of the OSI team to achieve CEBT status. This certification evaluates an individual's knowledge of donor screening, testing, evaluation, processing, distribution and regulatory compliance for eye tissue intended for transplantation. Maintenance of this certification requires a program of continuing education through association activities, and we congratulate him on his achievement.

 

Ocular Systems Appoints Kilmora Consulting as Endosaver™ Distribution Manager

Ocular Systems has contracted John McMaster of Kilmorna Consulting to identify and establish European Union distributor relationships for its corneal endothelium delivery instrument, EndoSaver™. McMaster is an experienced, high-performing ophthalmic device sales consultant who will formulate market strategy and guide OSI's international business. Before he established Kilmorna Consulting, John McMaster managed the non-US business for CooperVision Surgical.

 

Ocular Systems' Endosaver Honored With European Union's CE Mark

Ocular Systems, Inc. today announced that its corneal endothelium delivery instrument, EndoSaver has received the European Union's CE Mark. The CE Mark certifies that EndoSaver has met the EU's health and safety standards, and permits the company to begin marketing and sales across the European Economic Community and in other countries recognizing the CE Mark.

EndoSaver is a sterile, single-use, disposable corneal endothelium delivery instrument. Its use preserves donor endothelium during implantation of allograft tissue in patients undergoing endothelial keratoplasty procedures, a type of corneal transplantation. EndoSaver is used to insert corneal endothelial allograft tissue measuring less than or equal to 8.5mm in diameter and up to 175 microns in central thickness into the eye's anterior chamber through a 4.0mm incision.

 

Ocular Systems Receives ISO Certification

Ocular Systems, Inc. has received ISO 13485: 2003 Certification for manufacture and distribution of ophthalmic surgical instruments. Ocular Systems, based in the Piedmont Triad Research Park, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, manufactures EndoSaver, a human corneal endothelium delivery instrument.

Ocular Systems, Inc. (OSI) today announced that its president, Jerry Barker, is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2009 Award in the Carolinas. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Barker was selected as a finalist from nearly 75 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event on June 18, 2009 at the Westin Charlotte.

Ocular Systems is pleased to provide its customers with reimbursement consulting to help guide you in billing corneal tissue to your local Medicare carrier and other commercial insurance carriers. Reimbursement for the acquisition of tissue used during keratoplasty procedures is a major concern for providers, patients, the physician community and medical technology innovators.


OSI customers receive reimbursement consultation services free of charge. This service is provided by Ocular Systems in collaboration NMD HealthCare Consulting, and is designed to ensure that proper, timely reimbursement is received.
